Our Heritage

Established prior to 1978 in the craftsmen city of MELAKA, MALAYSIA, Walk About Kilang Kasut Sdn Bhd has a long and humble history in shoemaking. Founded by Mr CHUA Tian Siew (JP, BKT, AMN, PJK), who established his foothold in the industry as a shoes salesman.


The business was established with the help of family members, started by renting a shoplot with 10 craftsmen. The team of agile shoemakers work tirelessly, in meeting the customers' demand. Expansion followed in 1984, manufacturing facilities were relocated to a bigger rented premise to accommodate the increase of orders, shoemakers, and machineries. The company started manufacturing vulcanised rubber outsole to compliment its shoemaking facilities, advancing it into a full-scale production facility. Today, the manufacturing facilities resides on 4 acres of land, in a building with built up of 30,000 square feet - wholly owned.



Since its establishment, the company produces men leather shoes and boots under the brand Walk About®. The company contract manufactures men leather casual shoes for a re-known USA brand owner since 1988. The company also exports its men leather casual shoes to Middle East, Mauritius, and Indonesia from 1987.


Walk About® men dress leather shoes and industrial safety footwear were introduced to Malaysia in 2004. Since then, corporate white and blue collar executives have been using the shoes produced by the firm. The company serves 300 past and present corporate clients to-date.


With strong fundamentals, the company weathered through multiple financial crisis and market turbulence in 1998, 2009 and 2015. Its management and shareholders have established solid foundation and direction to elevate the organisation further.


Future direction of the company would be focused on engaging of its stakeholders from different backgrounds, embracing diversity, and to leverage on technology to attain the strategic objectives set forth. The company strives to be the preferred supplier of quality leather footwear for the nation and beyond. It would leverage on omni-channel in distribution of its products, to reach a broader customer base.
